In Hollywood, he was a movie star, an Academy Award winner and a figure larger than life. In Newport Beach, he was a friend, a neighbor, a club member, a boater, a bridge player, a fisherman and first and foremost a father.
Joseph Allen Beek was the longest serving secretary of the Senate in California history, 1919-1968. Joe Beeked was born in Maine and established residency in California in 1907. Beek was perhaps best known for his role in developing Balboa Island.
The New Balboa Island Museum pays homage to the island so many of us know, love and call home – and a place that continues to capture the imaginations and hearts of visitors the world over.

Closed: New Years Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, 4th of July
